Places of memory: Gorée, Cape Coast, Valongo and others

Started by CCAFADMIN on October 25, 2026

Places such as the Island of Gorée, the Valongo Wharf in Rio and the forts of Ghana’s coast keep the memory of the Atlantic slave trade. Have you visited one of them, or one near you? What did it teach you, and how should such places be presented to young people?

Please share your experience, not anyone’s personal family records.
