USikhukhukazi noKhozi (Hen and Eagle), in isiXhosa

By
Ann Nduku (writer); Wiehan de Jager (illustrator); Bukiwe Tiyane (translator)

In a time of famine, when no bird could fly, Hen and Eagle sewed feathers into wings, but Hen lost the needle she had borrowed from Eagle. This animal tale explains why, to this day, the hen scratches the earth and the eagle swoops down on her chicks.
