Evidence type: Oral tradition

Anansi the spider, the clever trickster of Akan storytelling, gathers the world’s wisdom into a clay pot to keep it for himself, and is outwitted by his own son. That, the tale says, is how wisdom came to be shared by everyone. Anansi stories travelled from Ghana across Africa and, with the diaspora, to the Caribbean and the Americas.
