Who we are

Correct Connect Africa Foundation (CCAF) is a movement of Africans, young and old, on the continent and in the diaspora, who choose to reconnect with their roots through education. We promote Africa’s history, cultures, values, style and beauty, and we work for an education that decolonises the mind: one that forms, transforms and innovates.

We hold that it is only through education that we can authentically connect to Africa, our root, and through education present Africa to the world. Rethinking the way we see ourselves and the world is the first step towards a new African future.

CCAF is registered in Nigeria, with its head office, Learning Centre and Library in Lagos, and an active study circle in Rome, where Sankofa Political Studies began in 2017/2018.

Vision

A new education for a new Africa and a new world

Cultural wholeness can only make a people more able to contribute to the general progress of humanity and to have a better knowledge of other peoples’ cultural reality. It prevents the false progress that would be achieved by suffocating the cultural values of the majority of peoples for the benefit of a few.

From CCAF’s statement of vision.

What we teach

Four educational choices

  • 1History and cultural consciousnessKnowing Africa’s past, from ancient Kemet to the liberation struggles, as the ground of identity.
  • 2Innovation and Afro social businessEnterprise that creates value for African communities and honours African creativity.
  • 3Active Pan-African citizenshipUnderstanding the African Union’s charters and taking part in public life across borders.
  • 4EcologyCaring for the land and resources entrusted to Africa’s peoples.

Form, transform, perform

CCAF’s idea of education rests on three movements: to form competent Africans with a strong cultural, historical and political consciousness; to transform the way we think about ourselves and the continent; and to perform, putting that knowledge to work for our communities.

“The history of Black Africa will remain suspended in air and cannot be written correctly until African historians dare to connect it with the history of Egypt.”

Cheikh Anta Diop, whose thought inspires the foundation’s work.
