A Quick Stop at the Iyase of Benin’s Residence
Benin City, Nigeria – On the 13th of January, 2025, on his first official visit of the year, Fr. Anthony Aleakwe Odior, the Executive Guardian and Chief Advocate of the Correct Connect Africa Foundation (CCAF) paid a courtesy visit to Chief Sam Igbe, the Iyase (Traditional Prime Minister) of the great Benin Kingdom, at his residence. During the visit, Fr. Odior outlined the foundation’s mission and the various activities and events they organize to promote mass education and reorientation of Africans about their identity. Referencing the Akan concept of Sankofa, he emphasized the importance of tracing back their roots and understanding and embracing African heritage.
Fr. Odior also discussed the Africa Memorial Day (AMD) and introduced a new initiative, the African Heritage Library (AHL), which will serve as a repository for books and artefacts for educational purposes and to preserve African culture.
High Chief Sam Igbe congratulated Fr. Odior on the work CCAF is doing and donated two books to the African Heritage Library. At Fr. Odior’s request, the Iyase offered words of prayer for the CCAF delegation and shared pleasantries. The CCAF looks forward to collaborating with the Iyase’s office on Africa Memorial Day and the African Heritage Library.
