Groundbreaking Seminar by CCAF Explores Afrocentricity for Young Minds
Lagos, Nigeria – September 12, 2024
In a pioneering event, the Correct Connect Africa Foundation (CCAF) hosted a transformative seminar titled “Embracing Roots: Unveiling the Essence of Afrocentricity for Young Minds” at the African Cultural Learning Centre. Led by the General Coordinator of CCAF, Rev. Fr. Anthony Aleakwe Odior, the seminar aimed to inspire students from Blooming Lights College, Nigeria’s first Afrocentric private school, to deepen their understanding of African heritage and identity.
Fr. Odior provided practical insights to help students grasp the unique vision of their school, the role of their teachers, and their responsibilities within this Afrocentric framework. He emphasized the importance of understanding African history, culture, and the continent’s diverse experiences, urging students to take pride in their heritage and develop a strong sense of identity.
The seminar fostered an interactive atmosphere, where students openly shared their thoughts, posed questions, and discussed their newfound perspectives. Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn more about their African roots; while connecting with peers who share similar cultural values.
This event marks a significant step in empowering the next generation to embrace their African identity, fostering a deeper connection to their roots, and preparing them to carry forward a legacy of pride and cultural awareness.
