African Students Celebrate the Legacy of Cheikh Anta Diop in Rome
Rome, February 23, 2024 – The Pontifical Salesian University in Rome buzzed with energy on the afternoon of Friday, February 23, 2024, as it played host to the lively commemoration of the 5th edition of “Diop Legacy Month.” Drawing the participation of approximately twenty students, the event delved into the theme: “The Legacy of Cheikh Anta Diop in African and World Historiography.”
The diverse program featured a warm welcome address by Iranou B. Diarra, followed by the articulation of the principles of the Correct Connect Africa Foundation (CCAF). A thought-provoking video presentation encapsulating the event’s theme paved the way for an insightful lecture on Nkrumah’s “Conscientism” delivered by Gustave PRAO. The audience actively engaged in an open discussion, enriching the discourse on the theme, concluding with an inviting African-style cocktail for all attendees.
Approximately twenty students participated in the event, expressing their appreciation for the well-orchestrated celebration. As the festivities concluded, the resounding sentiment echoed among attendees: “Long live Cheikh Anta Diop,” underscoring the enduring impact and importance of commemorating his legacy.”

L’après-midi du vendredi 23 février 2024 a été marqué par la célébration de la Vème édition du « Diop Legacy Month » dans les locaux de l’Université Pontificale Salésienne à Rome. Cette célébration qui a connu la participation d’une Vingtaine d’étudiants avait pour thème : « L’héritage de Cheikh Anta Diop dans sur le plan de l’historiographie africaine et mondiale ». Le mot de bienvenu prononcé par le P. Iranou B. Diarra a été suivi respectivement par : – la déclaration des principes de la CCAF, – la visualisation de la vidéo sur le thème, – la conférence donnée par le P. Gustave PRAO sur le « consciencisme » de Kwame NKRUMAH suivi d’un moment d’échanges libres sur le thème de la conférence, le tout couronné par un cocktail à l’africaine. Les impressions des uns et des autres font état d’une célébration bien appréciée par les participants. Vive Cheikh Anta Diop.
