CCAF’s GC paid a courtesy visit to Chief MiKe Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe in Preparation for Africa Memorial Day 2023
In preparation for Africa Memorial Day 2023, the GC of Correct Connect Africa Foundation (CCAF), Rev. Fr. Anthony Aleakwe Odior, paid a courtesy visit to his excellency, Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe, former Deputy Governor of Edo State and former chief of staff to the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s administration at his Fugar residence on the 27th of December, 2022.
In his presentation, the GC explained the idea of creating the Foundation, hinging it on his experiences while studying in Rome. He said that his encounter with people of other cultures and traditions, who took pride and passion in showcasing who they are, made him reevaluate himself and the knowledge he had of his identity and his origin. He added that he discovered he lacked a sound awareness of his past and cultural practices. These and many more informed his decision to embark on the campaign that there is a need to go back to the African roots to ascertain progress in the continent. He noted that African Culture and Heritage form our identity as individuals and people.
Chief Oghiadomhe, on his part, educated the audience, mentioning some good African cultural practices that have been demonized and neglected. He stated his interest and passion for the CCAF course. He encouraged Fr. Odior to create relationships with government bodies present at the meeting to further the reach of the Correct Connect Africa Foundation.
Also present at the meeting are Mr. Gerald Adewale, Director for Special Duties under the office of the Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), and Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Diaspora Affairs, Prince Bamidele Obaitan and the Royal Father.
Mr. Adewale was impressed by the initiative of the CCAF and suggested Fr. Odior send a concept note to the DG of NCAC, that he will be very excited to welcome this idea. Prince Obaitan congratulated and encouraged CCAF to send an official letter for possible collaboration with the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Diaspora Affairs of Edo State.
